UPDATE

National rally taking place this Sunday April 26, 2009. The New Brunswick rally is located in Saint John, NB at 2:30pm infront of City Hall. Please contact us for additional information or visit our facebook page .

This year the media reported some of the most shocking cases of horrific acts of cruelty, including a family cat being killed in a microwave, five dogs being beaten to death with a hammer, 29 horses dying from severe neglect and another 100 in need of emergency medical care.

This continues to happen because current protection for animals in Canada pales in comparison to many developed and developing countries in the world.

DID YOU KNOW?

- Canada is alone in offering virtually no protection for wild and stray animals

- Canada’s legislation does not include a clear definition of ‘animal’ while other countries are explicit

- Canada is the only country that does not provide protection for animals being trained to fight each other

- Canada is the only country that makes it virtually impossible to prosecute cases of neglect

SPEAK OUT

If you’re tired of seeing defenseless animals suffer, SPEAK OUT and join over 150,000 supporters who have recently signed petitions, wrote letters and rallied across Canada asking the Government to support effective animal cruelty legislation like Bill C-373 (now C-229) to stop animal cruelty in Canada! This bill is supported by every animal welfare group in Canada such as CVMA, CFHS, IFAW, SPCA, WSPA, Protective services, etc.

Write to your MP, sign our petition or write a letter to the editor and join the rest of Canada in helping make our government finally take a stance on animal welfare and update the legislation that has made us an embarrassment on the international stage.
